All,

I just got a Garrett 15" Super Sluice Pan.. I started working a bucket of Concentrates I'd previously ran with my "Proline" Gold catcher. The super sluice really impressed me.. in rerunning I recovered a lot of fines that previously washed out into my catch basin.

I like both pans the Garrett and the proline are about the same weight. But for working through the concentrates the Garrett beats all hands down.

Just wanted to pass the info along to someone who may be considering a different pan..

Thanks. I have the little Garrett sniper and 12". Got the set that Kellyco sells. Haven't done much gold panning except along the Arkansas near here. Just a little color is all. Tried panning for diamonds in Arkansas, no luck there either. Guess I gotta work on the wrist action a bit, gonna try again this fall down south.

Stoney,

Never heard of panning for diamonds.. Diamonds have about the same Specific Gravity of gravel, doesn't it? My guess is you'd lose more then you'd get..

I think you just have to get nitty with a thin layer of cons and use tweezers..

They way they do it in Murfeesburough (sp) is using a sieve and washing the kimberlite material down until the clayish material is gone, the finer the sieve the better. When done, the screen is flipped over onto a table and the diamonds if any, show themselves. It leads me to believe that diamonds are heavier than the rest of the gravel. ???
