Material is bronze or brass, 2.5" in diameter. Came from a shipwreck, late 1700's to early 1800's. each cup has a number stamped (16, 8, 4, etc.)
Somebody told me these were used for measuring gold.
Trying to get some more info. Any ideas??

Nice to get a full set, I've only had a couple of singles.

Yes, nested brass weight set to measure gold--only missing the cap weight which would fill the 'void' in the top middle area of your set.
Back in the day, I was fortunate enough to salvage a complete set (English) NW of Trujillo, Honduras; just south of Cayo Cochino Grande.
Don.....

You didn't put the gold in the cup of the weight (that would be on the wrong side of the scale), they were just like that for easy travel.
