gold in Mass.

Not shore about the mica but im new too lol where are you in MA I used to live in Sherborn (borders with natick)

well if you look at youtube there is a way to design a non ferrous magnet i hope and this will help you, other than tha just melt it with borax and i just hope and the mica melts away, i did melt some gold with my ex partner and i got a nice looking nugget

im in western mass. this creek i found out runs through a sand and gravel pit lot of flower gold

hi first time posting. I started prospecting this year i have alot of micro and flower gold.:hello2: the problem is the there is alot of mica dose anyone know the easiest way to separate the mica from the gold
mica is much, much less dense than gold so it separates easily in a gold pan...unless all you have is mica of course lol.

I am making a miller table tomorrow. no mater how hard i try panning i know i lose more. I can pan gold flakes but not micro or flower

i found out its not mica its platinum :icon_thumleft:

great news! And yes gold and platinum are similar density so they are tough to pan separately. Good problem to have I think!

Interesting. I haven't heard of platinum being found in MA. I have certainly found some colors in the Deerfield River and its tributaries, but only gold. How were you able to identify it as platinum?

we have platinum finds up here in maine also in the western part of the state
