Gold in Illinois

Does anyone know if there are any places in Illinois that have gold. Me and a buddy drive about 2 hours each way once a week to dredge and were trying to find somewhere closer to Chicago. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ive heard from somepeople that the streams in eastern Ill. have fine gold in them. lots of research and door knocking is the only way to find out. as you know theres lots of private land out there and owners are afraid of getting sued or their property getting messed up or stolen!you have tobe on your best behaviour.

Have you tried the GPAA web site? And if you're a member you can prospect and sometimes camp on the land for free!! HH
