If you soak the right one in lemon juice for 1 hour it will come up real nice
 

Thanks for the cleaning info. They have been washed in dishwashing liquid with a toothbrush and then had alumnum jelly applied to them. I guess mother nature took her toll on them.

Very nice fancy buttons. Is the big one marked Benedict & Burnham?

I found a B & B button recently with the same background as your coat button. Mine had a cluster of grapes on it. It is early 1840's. Benedict & Burnham later became Waterbury.

The big one is marked "B & Burnham Extra".
