I bought some gold filled watch parts this weekend. I just had to share. nothing spectacular however someone took the time to separate all of the gold filled links from stainless steel links. And there’s 345 grams of them! Maybe this is common but I certainly wouldn’t have the time or patience to do it. What a task!

I'd taken a look at doing some refining myself, but I didn't see where that was practical in my little world.

What do you plan to do with this big batch of promise?

That stuff sells on eBay. I separate that kind of stuff as it comes in and then at some point list it and take whatever it sells for. So far no one has ever complained about what they bought and they don't leave any feedbacks either.

Like tamrock said. $.99 starting bid on eBay. I up there buy it now obo but keep getting lowball offers so going to auction it with a lot of gold filled watch cases I got with them. That stuff sells better then scrap silver does.

How many grams are there? I can't read the scale display.

Have you listed it on eBay? If yes, and if it's allowed, post a link to the listing.

Thanks,
James

It makes me sad to think of all those beautiful watches that are no more! :(

Makes them all the more rare. What's funny is in the instance of beat up non-working pocket watches you can in some cases, get more out of just the GF case then the complete as-is watch. A lot of folks out there with gold fever and will go after every little bit they can get their hands on.

It does. I've stopped putting silver on eBay because of some disappointing results. Silver jewelry is another matter altogether, but that too I've been collecting.
