Pretty much sums up the day. The marked 10k gold ring with ten diamonds (all test genuine) rang up a solid 51 VDI on my ATMax at 2” down in a public school lawn/soccer field. I thought I was going to dig a nickel. Pickings were slim but still fun to dig! Today brought rings #5 and #6 for the month of June so far. Cheers, and Happy Hunting to all of my TNet friends. Sub 8-)

That's a different type of ring, congrats on the recovery.

Beautiful ring recovery, congrats! :icon_thumleft:

That was a good day! Congrats!

Nice going Sub. The Gold ring is a beauty. Congrats on all your finds.

great find. Those were sold by walmart about 15-20 years ago

Always nice to have those "nickel" hits on the AT remind that they are also ring signals. ;)

I'm thinking about going to an AT-Max. But, by the time I move off the fence, they'll probably have a new model out! LOL

Say Sub? I'm wondering if the same trick works on the AT-Max as it does on the Pro?

I noticed that once you've checked the signal and see it at 51 solid, (nickel), then you switch over to pinpoint mode...the signal will get a lil bit louder. If it doesn't, pulltab, canslaw, etc.

How do you like Medusa over Julio?

In any case, great walk!:icon_thumright:

Whadi,

Forgive me, but I have not heard about the "switch to pinpoint" trick for helping determine if a signal is a nickel (or jewelry) or trash. But, I will try it for sure! The Pro and Max are pretty much the same in regards to features. I like the threshold function on the Max, but both are just as good for the things that you and I look for. I have been hunting with the lighter, aftermarket NEL snake coil. Really fast and easier on my deteriorating joints, LOL. Thanks for the kind words. Sub

I never have any luck with 51 signals. Nice ring!

I've found the technique useful. Also noticed on the Pro that solid, repeating 51's are usually nickels. The pinpoint thing isn't a "gospel" technique, of course. But try it on a few nickels and you'll see.

Stay safe.

I have dug several little gold rings that hit solid 51. I wouldn't waste time with the pinpoit thing. Just dig it and move on to the next target.

Grats on the glitter!

Learning something about ones machine is *never* a waste of time. Use what you want and just throw the rest away.
