I found this in an unopenned Christmas card in a heap of my uncle's mail and papers that I was helping him to sort thru. I just brought boxes and stuffed handfulls into them ,then I took them home to sort through. I filled my blue recycling barrell with the junk mail. His dining table/desk in his house gave way and sent an avalanche of mail,computer software, magazines, some loose change that rained down from between the envelopes to the floor. I also found a $100 and a $1 bill and a silver proof collector's coin that is 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver. Anyone else would have just discarded these to the trash, but I actually was trying to salvage the large padded envelope to hold his "keeper" stuff like med records, statements and current bills! This has been a most unusual type of treasure discovery for sure!! My task is far from finished as you will see in the pics......

I will try my best. I'm still getting used to digital cameras.....I'm old school. I use traditional film cameras, but I have the awesome set of lenses. However, I would have burned thru a small fortune in film and developing to get the pics that I have of a lot of stuff that I already have from this house! I'll post some new ones!! Thanks.

I have found gold and silver, paper money too, in trash from the elderly. Nothing unusual here. Happens all the time. What pyrochik is saying that it could have gone out with the trash if it wasnt looked through carefully..

You cant just toss it all out. You need to look through it.

I used to love searching the dump. Relatives would toss everything away in the trash and I would pick out the gold and silver! Paper money too! One time I found a thousand dollars in 1934 twenty dollar gold certificates and another time I found $50,000 in War Bonds. True stories. But that would make another thread.
