It looks plated to me. First I'd check it with a magnet. It also doesn't look as finished as a gold item would normally be. But you never know I have been surprised by stuff before.

Does not stick to magnet but I did run my detector over it and it rings solid 80 on T2 when gold normally is in 50s but I really never dig jewelry so dont know

Gold would have markings on the inside of the band...

If you have to ask, it's fake.:skullflag:

I think it is costume because I can't imagine putting that many "diamonds" in an unmarked band that doesn't ring up as at least 10K gold on your T2. It is still cool, and if the original owner can't be found, it would make a nice accessory for your daughter.

Greetings Gregg! In a close-up photo it doesn't show the telltale small scratches visible in genuine gold. A simple test when testing products are unavailable, with clean hands take the ring and rub it briskly between your thumb and forefinger. See if they smell like brass? Base metal will oxidize right through a plated layer of gold. But don't forget, it's treasure to her and always will be. Sometimes "I'm not sure, but it's very pretty." is the best answer!

Best wishes!

It does appear to be plated with the plating wearing off on the sharp edges.
