gold colored pin ? rang up gold ~ found this morning ~ any ideas ?

nice pin! but the green tarnishy stuff looks like a copper,brass or something in that area. gold will not tarnish. it could have rust on it from some thing else. get it tested.

thanks ~ thats what i figured.
i had an idea to hunt the shady spots in my yard that were there due to my neighbors huge pine trees.
its about time i found something thats not all chopped up by a lawnmower.
id love to know how old it is regardless.

My guess is, its gold plated!! I found a rolled gold or gold plated watch band that rang up just like gold. I gues this is because there is some gold on the item.... the watch band also had area where it was turning greenish color from the metel under the gold plating.

Why do you say it's a pin? Is there a pin on the back?

I agree that it could be gold plated brass...

I also agree that it's Art Nouveau (France), or Modern Style (America & Britain). Generally consisting of flowing, asymmetric forms depicted stylised representations of flowers, plants and the female form.

Art Nouveau years: 1890 to 1914 (...actually to present day)

actually jim my better half gave me that idea.....lol.
the back seems to have has something missing maybe the pc that was connected to the pin.
thats the part thats the most green.
thats why i asked if there were any ideas ?

we live out a bit in the country.
the yards are filled with all kinds of rusted metals from farming from way back when.
i always dig every target for that reason and it finally paid off.
love to know the history of the object.
