Does anyone find the OLD Gold Coins any more? Looking through the posts of Best Finds I never see any Gold Coins. They had to have been lost just as silver coins were lost. Are the Gold coins so heavy that they sink faster and are now out of reach of our Metal Detectors? I am preparing for my annual vacation to upstate NY (early July) where I have lots of friends that own houses and property that are easily 150 to 200 years old (not many properties that old around Kansas City). My dream while hunting these old homes and farms is to find a Gold Coin. Am I really dreaming or is it a possibility. I would love to hear stories of people that have found Gold Coins, how deep they were, and how strong of a signal did it produce. I will be in Upstate NY (near Seneca Lake) for about a week and plan on MD'ing the entire time. Wish me luck on finding my first Gold Coin.

dathvick,

Every once in a while I see a gold coin on here that someone has found. Very rare though. I have not found one yet. I used to live in Olathe, now I am in Lee's Summit. PM me if you would like to go hunting sometime. I have a few good spots and also do some arrowhead hunting.

I'm sure the gold coins are out there! Just have to keep looking.
1 treasure for sure when you get to NY and Seneca lake are the wineries there!
Try the wine tours there. Most of them let you sample for free! Tons of fun... enjoy!
