I helped my cousin clean out a cabinet to make way for a new one. We came across his sac of coins collection. That is when he showed me this coin. He found it while walking down the street in a rough neighborhood in toronto. Coin appears to be gold. It weighs aprox. 22.7g, and is almost exactly the size of a beer bottle cap. It has a small gash on the side, and the gash remains gold in color. It says Sir Gawain on the face side, aswell as the franklin mint 1986 in fine print at the bottom of the other side. I've searched a lot and came up empty handed. Does anyone know anything about this coin? is it real gold possibly? What it might be worth? Any info would be great, and thank you's in advanced for all your help.

Well - if it say's Franklin Mint it's a replica or fantasy token... and truely made in 1986.

Since the Franklin Mint page has nothing on it your best bet is to periodically check e-bay.

I'm guessing it is bronze, it just doesn't have the look of gold to me? Monty

Your coin is 24k gold plated pewter or 22k gold plated bronze depending on the set. The whole set sells for about US$120.

It is from the Franklin Mint Excaliber Backgammon set. Bottom row third from the left. ;D
