Its a Jewish prutah coin. 103-76BC

Someone guessed it is a widows mite but as you mentioned, not issued in gold.

This is what a similar real prutah looks like.
And yes, it is also called a Widow's mite; after the story in the Bible.

Yeap, a bad copy of one in bronze/copper-alloy.
