We found this Gold Bond in some old books and was wandering is there any one that has knowledge about stocks and bonds that could point us in the right direction to see if it is redeemable or what.
it says it is payable in gold coin.

What I find of interest is the 'lineage' to Chase Manhattan Bank. I'd add to the suggestion regarding scripophily, the suggestion to contact CMB. Maybe as a joke (maybe not) visit them and demand payment--in gold--as prescribed by the document. You may not get payment (for many reasons) but you may get some 'priceless' information.
