Metal Detecting
I will be metal detecting for meteorites at Gold Basin, AZ soon. I want to get my FIRST detected meteorite. I know many have been there detecting. Can anyone steer me to the middle of the strewn field? It is a large field and thousands have already been recovered. Can anyone help me up my chances? ╦╦Ç

Head north out of Kingman, on Stockton Hill Rd. It used to dead end at Pierce Ferry Rd. (Probably still does), or you can pick up Pierce Ferry Rd. off of 93, and come up through Dolan Springs. If you come up Stockton Hill Rd., make a right onto Pierce Ferry, and look for Gregg's Hideout Rd, on your left. The area down Gregg's Hideout Rd is in the area you want to be. If you make a LEFT on Pierce Ferry off of Stockton Hill, look for God's Pocket Rd on your right. :skullflag:

Tnx Terry! I've been up there several times detecting for nuggets (not yet found). Found my share of fines, but not any space rocks. The strewn field is more than 10 km long and almost that wide. Maybe my question should have been does anyone know where the largest concentration have been recovered. I WILL find one in Feb! I will visit the Quartzsite and Gold Basin areas for three maybe four days. FOOTPRINTS has become my main research tool(s). Lots of info there! ╦╦Ç

Ok, I believe I found the center of the strewn field. Based on a paper by associates of the original finder, Prof. Kriegh (AZ S. U.), I have determined the most space rocks have been found at (in) the SE 1/4, section 23, T 29 N, R 18 W Gila and Salt River Meridian. Assuming thousands of pieces have been found there, I will look around that perimeter. Thanks to those that responded. Now you all know where they are being found! See you there. ╦╦Ç

RESEARCH does it again
