gold and the time game

??? better question is where do you see this country in 12 months with the whole world polluted by our spill?????John >:(

I believe gold will be at 5,000 an ounce in the not so distant future. 5, 10, or 20 years down the road, I cant say, but that time will eventually come; unless we hit on some huge here-fore unknown deposits that dwarf anything found previously.

I have some books on gold mining from 1962 where the price of gold at that time was listed as 35$ an ounce. To fill up your car that same year was around 5$, which was about 1/7th the price of an ounce. Today it costs me about 30$ to fill up my car, but the price of gold is 1200$+.

So if you compare the price of gas filling up your car to how much gold it costs per ounce, it should only be about 30 x 7 or 210$ dollars an ounce for gold today. Instead it is almost six times that much.

In 1850, an ounce of gold could buy you a good suit. Today it will STILL buy you a good suit. I see it going to 2000 an ounce then the gov freezing it... making it again illegal to own more than a certain amount. TTC

Time to fill up my Hummer and get a Big Mac in a styrofoam box. You in?

miasdad asked a simple question speculating on the future of gold prices. YOU sullied his post with spam. If you are THAT concerned about OUR spill, please feel free to START YOUR OWN THREAD.
I DO respect your decision to support Arizonas economy by purchasing Arizona made products so you must not be ALL bad, :icon_thumleft:

I belive we will see gold go up and down untill it goes to a more shocking amount and then the "corp.america" will step in and regulate what we can do with it or what or how much we can own ,look we all know that in california you can,t hardly dredge any where. donsnt it seem as if there trying to keep the gold there for some special purpose that were not involved in ? I mean dredging is a great way to get the yellow stuff. and in my mind the easyest way to. so why not outlaw the dredging if you whant all the gold for yourself. wich tells me they know gold is going higher. my other comment is the amero is the demise of the usa but the us dollor is not looking that great either. I belive the big cash for gold company is gov. backed and thats how there gitting there cut instead of just saying turn in all of your gold.I love my country and enjoy my freedom. thanks

Not so sure, guys. Historically, it certainly seems likely to go way up.

But also, historically, the bulk of gold which has already been mined is ... on the bottom of the ocean. The advances after Fisher found the Atocha, combined with the work on the Central America and other wrecks, suggests we may rise again ... sometime.

BTW, did you realize the gold deposits which caused the gold rush to Nome, Alaska are still there? Just a few hundred feet offshore now. Until a big storm eroded a lot of the shoreline in a 2 week period, it was a lot closer. Most people still haven't figured out how to get it, is all.
