I hit my favorite thrift store today after a two week absence and was able to pick a few nice items. I first went to the silverplate and spied this Christofle sommelier cup. These seem to go for crazy money.

I also found a 12 piece set of demitasse spoons from Reed and Barton. Silver plate but worth a shot.
Also buried in the pile of single silver plated cutlery was this unusual, first I thought was a pie cutter, but now believe is probably a letter opener. It is made from a 1942 bullet and is signed 1945 Australia in a boomerang. This is just a really cool piece of World War II trench art. Several have sold on eBay recently so they must be fairly common.

Then I hit the jewelry and spied these earrings. As soon as I saw the clasp I thought for sure they would be gold and I wasn’t disappointed, marked 14 karat. They weigh in at 4.4 g.

And if the day couldn’t get any better I had an hour to kill while my daughter was at dance class and took the Umax I purchased from the estate sale on Saturday to a park and found another gold item. This time an 18 karat gold pendant weighing 1.8g. That makes two golds this week with the new uMax after a two year gold drought. 18kt and 21kt. Luv the high karat! Needless to say I recouped my $30 investment and then some.
