I found this at Myrtle Beach this past week. It was about 12" deep and had a very strong signal. I was using a Minelab Explorer SE Pro and it showed FER= 00 and COND= 31. The top side (side with writing) is copper and the bottom is what looks like gold.

Dia. = 27.8mm, (1.0960" or 1 3/32")
Thickness 5.09mm (.2055" or 13/64")
Weight 26.9 grams or 0.949 Oz.

In case you cant see the writing:
149
R=00
7325207-
000-01
NT-7900

I have no idea what it is. I have searched the internet using all the writing in one form or another. I am pretty new to detecting and this is the first thing I have ever found other than pull tabs and bottle caps.

Welcome to Tnet :hello2:

It reminds me of a battery.

I don't think itis a watch back as there are no threads. I don't believe it to be a battery either as I checked it with a volt meter and there were 0 volts and a battery will usually have a + or - on one side.

electronic part of some sort. The top and or bottom appear to be gold or gold plated, is the out sided copper?? Reminds me of an sonic or ultrasonic transducer but I have never see one like that.

Keep the ideas coming...I am going to take it to a jeweler tomorrow and see if he can tell me if it is gold. I am going to try to find someone to x-ray it.

It could be part of a pressure scale, something to do with diving maybe. Cant be a battery not having a + or - on it , its not radioactive either. Looks like it belongs inside something. From a pacemaker perhaps? What is the rim made of?

Maybe some kind of electronic data storage device or a part from computer?

Mickk the sides are copper just like the top.

Jeff of Pa. I found that link as well. I am sending them the pictures to see if it is something they manufacture.

IronSpike, I work on computers and I have never encountered anything like that, but then again I have not been in every one ever made lol.. Could be a computer part....

This one is going to bug me big time.

I thought "R=00" might be resistance = 0"

"149" I read as 1/49.

The rest a serial number

Then the last line a model number.

Parts usually have a meaningful code, theres a whole international spare parts language.

Overall, despite nothing to indicate a +- charge, I reckon if it looks like a battery, it probably is. But Im sure I have seen a similar thing in a digital scale.

I'm going to WAG this idea in front of everyone :sign13:
with the clue from jeff; Is it a coin-identifying disc ?
Such as you might find in a contemporary vending machine.
Vending machine security being a good reason for not being able to find any (other) clues on Good ol' Google

Does the gold side have many small dimples on it? Looks like a calibration block for a hardness tester or ultrasonic thickness meter. Maybe even an alloy anaylizer.The company Niton makes an anaylizer and uses NT for thier modle numbers. Can't find 7900 though. Just a thought.

There are over 80,000 hits for NT-7900. ::) Take your pic is like trying to pic lottery numbers. I tried combining NT-7900 with any of the other numbers but i get nothing.

Kirkwannem - It does not have any dimples on either side.

I will send Niton an email with pics to see if they can identify it.
