Going h20 with at pro

I do a lot of water hunting, and have had zero problems with the AT Pro underwater. When I'm going after a target, I just let it float beside me.

Lol...sounds good to me......what kind of depth are you getting underwater with the atpro if you dont mind me asking?

I use my at pro in the water all the time when I dig a hole it just floats by me and it gets great depth underwater dont be afraid to let it go ..you can also take a small bungee cord and fasten it to you and the detector to keep it next to you

Ive read on another thread that some people use some kind of o ring sealant for where the coil and headphones plug in...do you? That was one thing i may do just to be safe...the bungee cord trick is a good idea i am going to definitely consider...thanks for the reply!

where you plug your headphones into the jack on the end of the headphones has an o ring and plus were you plug into is sealed waterproof on the inside I called Garrett last night and found that out so I went water hunting last night and it was fine but I still feel safer with the headphones

Thats good to know because i thought something would haveto cover the headphone adapter w/o headphones in

Yes you have to have the cover for the headphone plug screwed in if not using headphones. With headphones the grease is called Silicone Grease and it is waterproof.

The woman from garrett that I talked to assured me you didn't saying it was water proofed on the inside I would suggest just plugging in your headphones or capping it off to be safe

Agreed! No problems with mine but don't want any either!

I use my AT-Gold in the water almost every day with ZERO problems. Usually with the headphones, but one day I left them at home. I had the detector totally submerged off and on over a couple of hours time without realizing I did not have the cover over the headphone jack plug. Still ZERO problems a couple weeks later.

Its good to know about the headphone jack being waterproof, as i looked in the manual and it does not specify about that port being waterproof. I cant wait to hit some creeks this weekend!

I've recovered targets at 8" below the river/lake bed before. I really haven't noticed any difference in depth between land and underwater.

What type of diggers do you guys use in creeks? I have a lesche hand digger, but a small shovel seems it may workbetter....any input would be appreciated!

I use a stainless steel scoop shovel

Unfortunately that wont work in the rocky creeks around here(i wish it would). I went out today and found a nice lure about 4" down, but realized i need a small shovel as there is a lot of rocks, and not much sand...but it is diggable though.
