Going gold detecting in East Fork River this weekend

Hi,

It's been a while since I've been on the forum. I'm going to try to get to East Fork river this weekend. I've heard they've been giving out fines there to prospectors and metal detectorists, is that true or just a rumor? Also, does anyone have any recommendations for someone driving in from LA that might be an accessible spot near the river? I was also thinking of staying overnight at a hotel, and wondered if anyone had any recommendations for that as well. Thanks for any info!

I been going there for years and have had no problem. Metal detected there a couple of weeks ago and found a 10k breacet, 10.3 grams.
