I planned it so we will be going down the day spring break ends. Just so happens I got lucky with the timeline.

Spring break ends on the 23rd of March, lowest tides of the month are the 24th and 25th, and the best fishing days of the month according to the Solunar charts is on the 27th thru the 30th.

Also taking my girl on a sunset horse ride on the beach, checking out the Corpus Christi aquarium, and other fun things.

I have been going down to the Gulf fishing almost every single year for over 20 years, sometimes 3 and 4 times a year. I live 4 hours away so I try to make the trip as long as I can.

I just bought the LG35 coil for beach hunting, and by using my shark fishing harness I made into a harness for swinging the metal detector too.

Great timing and best of luck. I hope you will show your finds.
Thanks... I just hope I find something cool or maybe catch a 6 foot blacktip in the surf. Either or will be awesome. I have had some great times at the coast, and a couple flops. Thus is life. Weather is the deciding factor for both metal detecting and fishing.

A 6’ blacktip? Is that a shark? Would you catch it for sport or can you eat them? I’m so far from the gulf I’m clueless on ocean fish.

Yes it's a shark. They are very good eating. They get about 8 feet long maximum. I actually know the guy from Texas who holds the state record. With my rigs I can catch a fish about 10 feet maybe 11 if I get lucky.

Where is that ?
