I've done some research and looking at getting a Minelab Sovereign GT. Before I spend my money, can someone tell me how much deeper it is than my Tesoro Cibola. I know the Cibola beats my Troy X2.

I want depth more than anything. I would like tones for coin hunting but beep and dig is fine. Or should I save a little more and get a PI, such as the Infinium or TDI.

Desert_Rat,

I see your in AZ, I want to move there with in the next 4 years or so, I was there last year and fell in love with the Bullhead City/Loftin area.... Lot of nice places to detect in the 4 cornors area.........

I own 2 Sovereign GTs, both have the WOT coil, I can't tell you how much deeper they are over your Tesoro Cibola since I have never used it, but I can tell you I have dug some deep targets at the beaches here in Florida with mine. Put a 15" WOT or a 15" x 18" Butterfly coil on it and you will have one deep machine.

The Sov gt also has a dd coil, giving better coverage at depth. The tones are handy. Thats why my Vaq stays home.

Do this ... go out back and plant a dime 7" down into the dirt.

Can the Cibola detect it?
Does it sound like something you would dig out in the field?

A Sovereign with the 10" BBS coil has no problem detecting that dime with a good solid hit.

Need more depth?
Use a WOT coil like mentioned above.

However, none of the VLF detectors, even in all metal, will detect as deep as a PI.

Thanks, That answers the question....

I'll Get the GT ;D

Hey Treasure_Hunter, If your looking for a home here in Arizona let me know. I want to move back to Colorado.

I can't afford to move yet, housing market being a shambles. If my home goes underwater that would be a different story.

I want to move to Bullhead City. I like Laughlin, NV, hate Vegas, and with the ability to hit so many National parks with ease. I figure I can hunt the Colorado river for gold jewelry, the desert for metorites and the mountains for placer gold, and you have the Colorado river, and Lake Mahave to go swimming to cool off.

I will still need to work, but with the cost of living being lot less then here I can at least work at something easier. I can rent a house for half of what I am paying here in house payment.

I love Colorado, but tired of the cold. I lived for years in the North, (Oh, Mn, Ia, Il, ND, Nb, Mo) i have had my fill of shoveling snow, and scrapping ice.
