This is one of a half dozen big tom turkeys that have been visiting the yard lately.

Great pictures of your varied wildlife! Thanks for sharing.

Great looking Tom(s)

It's funny -- when the toms are all puffed up, the deer are intimidated and will hang back until the toms move away before they come up and eat.

I don't know turkey anatomy, but I imagine those guys have some wicked spurs.

They're not that bad, really. You can kinda see them in this shot.

Actually those were taken with an iPhone -- the iPhone 15 Pro Max. It has three lenses (wide, normal, and telephoto) and takes really good pictures. Plus the animals don't seem to mind when I take it out. Larger objects scare them (snow shovels, for example -- they all ran to the woods when I came out with a shovel in my hand, and only came back once I put it away).

Thank you Robert :) I have a Iphone 13 Pro max

The one closest to the front is another Tom, he just doesn't have his fan up. The one right behind him I think is a bearded hen. Some people I show the photo to say it's a young tom, some say it's a bearded hen. I don't know enough to tell the difference, but it doesn't have any of the facial features that the other toms do.

I should probably also add that I was standing very close to them when I took those pictures. Maybe eight or ten feet from me to the birds at times. They will come literally right to my feet sometimes. At that distance probably any camera would do a good job.
