Came across an old newsletter from my elementary school while cleaning out
my late parents old file drawers. It was dated April, 1970, and my mom had
gone so far as to staple these two pages together so they wouldn't get lost.

Relevance to our 2nd Amendment? There is a continuing loss of our rights
and freedoms guaranteed under the US Constitution and Bill of Rights, and
the documents below tell a very interesting story about HOW and WHY
we are losing those rights.

These were entered into the Congressional Record in 1963, and at the time
they were the established, published goals of the Communist Party.

For those of you that were not alive back then, the Communist threat was a
very real one. The "goals" listed in those pages make up many of the reasons
us old conservative types get so bent out of shape about the current
(and past) administrations attacks on the freedoms we hold so dear.

What really stinks is how many of those "goals" were successfully
achieved.

And so many wonder what's wrong with America today......now you know.

It has been a gradual process, barely noticeable.Time to WAKEUP PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GodBless Chris

wow, that has historical value if you can tie it in with your parents being members of the John Birch Society at that time, and don't take that wrong. In order for it to be worth anything there has to be verification it came from an active chapter of the JBS at the time it was typed showing the correlation to the subject. Otherwise it could be someone's dalliance with a typewriter, no more, no less. Good Luck.

I've read similar warnings regarding communism. Yes it is sad to compare "the greatest generation's" state of things to the present. It does seem that the US is losing ground. I definately feel as a citizen that I have less freedom and opportunity to pursue "life, liberty, and happiness" now than my grandparents did.

What do we do? Sure, we vote, we write, we protest. But at the end of the day, I'm barely making ends meet, and I keep watching my life's work erode away. I'm middle class, slipping into the lower class by nature of the poor employment and economic situation.

I'm kept so busy scrapping to get by that I don't have time to ferret out the truth or do much about it. Always kept in line by fear of losing my job, my freedom, or my assets.

This train is out of control. What do the citizens do about it? Short of a second revolution, we can't agree on what we want, trust our elected officials to do what we voted them in to do, and big business influences our government far too much.

What are we to do?

Well at this point what we have is taxation without representation. We no longer have a government we a couple of regimes with Hitler in charge. With smooth words and psychopathic thoughts I'm convinced he is hell bent on weakening the U.S. to point where another country or countries could take over or even manipulating his current term into a permanent position.

Our founding fathers wanted what was best for all, and now what that is morphing into is a bunch of greed motivated pigs that could care less about the well being of the United States of America.

I agree Dennco, but what can we do about it? A lot of states are prohibiting citizens from owning firearms, there are "free speech" zones, and every electronic form of communication is recorded by the NSA and being filtered through algorithms to look for threatening, terrorist or subversive intent.

I love my country, I fear my government.

why are you having such a hard time making ends meet? Taxes on corporations are lower than they were back in the 60s and early 70s. Businesses are hoarding large amounts of cash off shore and CEOs are making money hand over fist while the bankers are giving out bonuses in the millions to their vice presidents and robo signers.

I'm of the opinion that if the American citizen were to get paid for what they were worth, a living wage shall we say, they would demand even more. Better to keep them at the company store level:hello:.

My household lost more than 50% of its income when my gf lost her job when her doctors office where she worked sold her CT machine out from under her, essentially laying her off. But they didn't lay her off, she could have collected unemployment. Instead, they randomly cut her hours. She'd be at work for 3 hours and they'd say "it's slow, you go home, you earn the most per hour." It got to be that going in wasn't worth the gas money.

She's been unemployed 15 months. Being 59, folks don't want to hire her because she's "old" which is illegal discrimination, but try to prove it. I'll tell you, for an "old" chick, she still kicks ass. She plays in a rock n roll band and her rendition of Radiohead's "Creep" will move you emotionally. Her band has a saying "we're done when she is" which is usually when the rooster crows. Old, my ass.

The unemployment here is still amazing. 200 applicants for entry level janitor jobs. She's applied over 100 times. We're hoping this week she gets called for an interview.

In the meantime, I've been carrying the household financially. I don't make enough to cover the mortgage, utilities, etc. I'm about $1,500 a month short. My gf declared bankruptcy. Then we found out she had skin cancer all over her arms, shoulder, back and face. Not from tanning, she's practically a vampire. Likely from her years of working with radiation.

So we've been dealing with 7 cancer surgeries on top of it all.

It's been a rough year, that's why I'm having a hard time marking ends meet.

When I was kid and went to school we had safety drills where we would get under our desks and whatnot in case Russia or China bombed us! I was taught Red China was our enemy buy lo and behold they are our best friends now if you read some of the media our whole economy depends on them. And Russia has turned somewhat conservative. Times have sure changed!

even strangers can love and pray for you

back to the part of article V of the constitution that applies to our situation;
.....or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states,......
there is an answer to our country's problem.

As far as personal heartbreaking problems, my heart go's out to you, with all sincerity. And God bless you.

Thanks, but I'm not afraid of challenges. Soon things will turn around. I share this to illustrate how fragile and elusive the "American dream" has become. Most of us are one greedy, inconsiderate boss away from ruin. Healthcare needs to be affordable to all.

The premise of studying hard, working hard, staying out of trouble and being able to enjoy the fruits of our labor-the unwritten agreement between the government and the citizens-is very tenuous.

The previous poster quoted Article V saying I'd 3/4 of the legislature can reach a 2/3 majority vote can change things? (It's early and I need to re-read it after I have coffee). Encouraging, but it's still the lunatics running the asylum. I'll read that again and think on it. Thank you for posting.
