Hi fellow TNet members.
My father bought this item on a local flea market/bazaar type of Xmas charity event.
It's this metal tripod (about 5cm or ~2 inch in diameter) with a bowl made of very thick glass that is set inside the tripod.

It has markings on the bottom that are in Cyrillic so I guess it's of Russian origin, I have no idea where it came from, what's it made of (I'm hoping silver), what it was/is used for and what the markings mean,.
Anyone out there that can identify this thing?

I've got one of those and mine is not plated, but a fake silver alloy mix of copper, nickel and zinc, much the same as German or Nickel silver. I don't have the spoon. You'll see others of the same maker on eBay. I believe I listed mine with a stating bid of $14.95 and no body cared to bid on it. If I recall some were selling close to 30 bucks. I think they were made maybe around the 1960s in Russia as aarc said.

I thought the one I got could be silver also when I found it. It was those interesting looking Russian marks that left me uncertain, until I did a little research. Still they're interesting little pieces you don't see everywhere. My thoughts were maybe a salt cellar collector or one who admires Russian things might want it as an addition to a collection. I'll get around to re-posting mine again, with a lower opening bid. Now I need to go find out where I put it.

Ц 8Р20К ", which means 8 rub. And 20 kopecks. The letter" Ts "means" PRICE. "The price stamp has never been put on silver
