I have always advocated buying small gold coins due to the fact that tungsten is allegedly a very brittle metal and it would be very hard to make counterfeit gold coins that look real and have the correct dimensions. But the weight of tungsten compared to gold is very similar, so making faked bars would not be too difficult.
If what is talked about is true, there are a lot of fake large bars floating around out there.
