Had a fun time along with two buddies at a permission yard yesterday. The house was built in 1917, and sits on a 1/4 acre corner lot in the older part of a nearby city. We were hopeful! I found all kinds of goodies. No precious metals today for me, but my friends each found a piece of silver. Thanks for peeking and Happy Hunting to all of my TNet friends. Sub 8-)

Yard hunt1.jpg
One 1935 buffalo nickle and nine wheaties ranging in dates from 1919-1957.

Yard hunt2.jpg
A 1957 coin from Spain, a mid-1700's Chinese cash coin, and four Missouri tax tokens.

Yard hunt3.jpg
Funny little widgets that may be headlamps for a toy tin litho truck or car (?)

Yard hunt4.jpgYard hunt5.jpg
CW (?) General Service button with wire attached and a musket ball. One of my friends found the twin to this button 10' away from where I dug mine.

Yard hunt7.jpg
Barclay mid-1930's futuristic slush mold race car, with red paint and two of the original white rubber wheels intact. No damage to the body!

Yard hunt6.jpg
1957 Nichols Colt Special cap gun and remnants of another cap gun of the same vintage.

Yard hunt8.jpg
Pretty big, ornate brass locking mechanism off of a trunk or old refrigerator (?)

Yard hunt9.jpgYard hunt10.jpg

Vintage International Harvester pocket watch fob.

Yard hunt11.jpg
1940 Captain Midnight club medal/pendant.

Yard hunt12.jpg

Vintage St. Louis & San Francisco Railway luggage tag.

Cheers!

You absolutely killed it on this hunt. Some very nice relics that reflect the age of the permission. Congrats on the awesome outing.

Wow you found some great stuff there! Although not a very fancy coin those Chinese cash coins are cool and the fact that it dates to the 1700's is awesome!

Looks like you guys hauled sum serious loot out of there! Congrats on a great variety of coins and relics...sorry you missed out on the silver, but it is awesome to see it come out of the ground regardless of who found it...Ddf.

WOW ! What a haul! So much cool stuff :occasion14:

I believe the "Funny little widgets" are actually old glass marble sign reflectors. They were imbedded in road signs.

That one "refrigerator" thing looks like a door-knocker to me. Nice finds!

Thank you Squirrel! You nailed it. With the house being located on a corner lot next to an intersection with stop signs, no doubt they came from an "old style" sign once posted there. Sub 8-)
