Detector(s) used
Whites Prizm II
I have a Whites Prizm II It's a good detector. But it has it's limitations and programing I've been doing my homework on whats on the market but I want to here from the people that uses them I'm gathering input for a new detector in the next couple months. Don't want to spend to much, maybe around the $500 mark maybe even a slightly used own from a dealer with warranty. let me know what you use and experiences

If you could add 100.00 to that you could get a new M6, if not you may be able to land a used one for 500.00. That's what I would do and if that failed I would get a new Tesoro Deleon 479.20 and an excellent detector. If you take the warranty equation out you can get some older detectors that are very good as well for less and have money left for coils etc. IDX/Pro's can be had with mods for 300 to 400. Just gotta keep your eyes peeled and be there first.

I second the motion for an M-6. It's basically an MTX without the prospecting mode. I've used mine off and on for about two weeks now and it's a monster. If you can swing the money, get the M-6. I think you'll be glad you did. Please research the detectors thoroughly before you buy.

Not sure what type of targets you're after, but if it has to do with coins, I would without a doubt try to get a second hand Explorer XS or II. You can get one used for that money. I got my Explorer XS on Ebay for $476 and it is the best money I've spent in a while. I've seen them go lower. You know you did the right thing when you start finding dimes and other coins at the 6-8 range with no problem whatsoever. The machine is a monster. I figured that one out when I dug a totally on edge quarter out of 8 inches, and it sounded loud and clear. My previous detector was an ACE 250. The Explorer simply is consistent in finding coins, on and on and on. It just doesn't hesitate. Hardest part of hunting with it is digging those deep holes.

I think the M-6 would be a great choice, as it has so many nice options at a fair price.

minelab for sure. i swing an explorer xs and like ricardo said they can be had for under $500 (got my xs with sunray probe for$475). there is a learning curve to the explorers and if you want a turn on and go machine look at the sovereign models with a 180 meter, these can be found in the $350 range...good luck
