Hello Sod Buster. Thanks for the reply and great link. I'm surprised to see all the info on Girl Scout pins?! Guess I should have Googled it before posting...duh.

Anyway after much scrutiny and closer inspection of the back of my pin (I see an "R" near the bottom), I am convinced it is a variation of "Type 6B". This makes it a WWII vintage pin produced between 1942 and '45. Cool!

Thanks again, I now feel schooled on GS pins, and maybe I'll find a gold one next time as tamrock says.
