I haven't taken the time to look in my button book yet but I thought some the experts here might have a quick opinion on this button I found far out on the tidal flats of a cape cod beach last night. It was heavily encrusted. It was found in the vicinity of a Mercury dime, 35, 40 and 46 nickels an encrusted silver quarter. I need to do some electrolysis to check date and type of the quarter. Also found 3 rings one is obvious junk the other looks like silver but is not marked and has other tell tale signs of being junk the third is still heavily encrusted and will take electrolysis but I am confident it's silver. I will get it all posted after I clean them all up. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1429195085.974202.jpg

It is a blazer button. On actual US Navy buttons, the rope encircling the emblem passes through the ring on the anchor's top. The photo below shows what I'm talking about.

Thanks, I concur. I looked up the button in Albert's Button book and didn't find any exact matches. the key differences I noticed were the shape of the wings as well as the horizontal presentation of the anchor which lead me to assume it was a reproduction.
