Gilded Thimble

I know this is a large thimble, but how can you tell the age? This one has a gold gild as well and in pretty good shape.

No ID marks. It’s a colonial site and have found a number of smaller thimbles not in as good of shape as this one. I have never found one with gold gild.

sure looks modern to me, IMO I don't see any gold gilding

There is a chance its late 19th C, but no earlier.
