I know this is a large thimble, but how can you tell the age? This one has a gold gild as well and in pretty good shape.

Any ID marks inside?
Don.....

No ID marks. Itโ€™s a colonial site and have found a number of smaller thimbles not in as good of shape as this one. I have never found one with gold gild.

Thanks for you input, but are you all basing your statements on the condition or the design? What are you basing your statements on?

Experience of finding hundreds (including ones from the 14th C - modern) of them & its design & shape.
