Over the weekend, I went back to the site where I found the 1849-O seated liberty quarter and pulled out two more notable finds. One was a beautiful little flat button from 1820-1840 that still has a lot of gilt still on it. Says "Robinson & Co * Extra *"
The other find was a bucket lister for me, a civil war Minie ball, which is pretty rare in Indiana considering we didn't have any major battles here (only one that I know of took place in far southern Indiana). This one is pretty beat up, but still you can see the 3 lines on the bottom half and general shape. Whoever lived in this old homesite back in the day definitely served in the Union army (based on some eagle buttons found at the site) and must've taken this bullet back home when he returned. Pretty cool.
