Well, it kinda got chilly today-temp about 48. You guys up north I know are gonna say "Now that's downright toasty." ;D But anyhow I got a late start today-about 430, so I didn't have time to do much hunting. I just checked out an area about a mile south and a 1/2 mi. back east and found some more broken bottles and junk.
I stopped for a minute to light a cigarette-yeah I know they're bad for me. ;) When I looked down as I put the pack back in the shirt pocket, I spotted something next to the coil. I didn't hear a beep as I took the headphones off for a minute. Can you guess what I found?

I also have a large assortment of glass bottles that I found. One appears to be a 1930 ink well. I'll post those later after a good cleaning.

Here's a not so green disc after a little cleaning.

COOL!

Man, if you can find stuff like that without the metal detector...

Looking forward to see what else you find.

And you eyeballed this?! Man you are on good hunter. Being prepared, doing proper research, knowing your detector...nothing beats the human eye. Won't call this luck but man what a find!

Here's a pic of some of the bottles-didn't get them quite cleaned yet. Also some little critters laying out there in the weather.

So my understanding is this is an inkwell. The pat date correlates to about 1930 if I understand correctly.

Thanks for all the comments guys! As I only get one day a week to hunt, I try to make the most of it.
I think that Thanksgiving Day I'm going to take Dad over to the old farm about 15 mi north of here so he can try his hand. It's been in the family since the Okla. Land Run and never been detected. He also wants to try his old grade school that is now an alfalfa field. He's now 72 and wants to try his hand at this new fangled machine. ;D

Stoney,

nice bottles. Deff. a ink well bottle. That small area in the bottle would hold just a bit of ink, you put your nib in there, and you did not have to put the
pen all the way in the bottle and get the sides of the pen, (thus your hand), messy with ink.

Very nice.

have a good un........
