Tuesday night (yeah I know a couple of days late) Baldingboy and I decided to go detecting. The weather man said it would get to 44 and drop to 30 by evening, he is a liar!!! The temp never got above 35 degrees and by the time we stopped hunting it was 25 degrees!
Neither one of us could decide where to hunt so we headed back to a previous home we had hunted hoping to find at least one good coin, although we both found a wheat penny that was to be about all we we would find there. For BB and I detecting is an exercise in futility lately and let me tell you we have been getting a lot of exercise!!! This yard has more iron, aluminum and scrap metal than it does dirt! We hunted the place for about two hours and then I got an overload signal and dug the grill. I told BB as we were leaving that I thought we should rent a big crane with a magnet on it and come back and run it over the yard first then maybe we could weed out the aluminum.
We headed to another house we had hunted before and had found a mixture of items at. We hunted for two and half hours and in that time I found another 4 wheat pennies and some junk. BB found a couple of interesting finds. I finally had to quit when my Explorer Shut itself off and refused to come back on (after warming it up over night it works fine). I am starting to get in tune with this thing I can tell you though it has taken me a long time. I am still learning and my silver count is still pathetic but I am going to keep going.
Cannot wait for the next hunt and some more exercise.
