Not my original idea ,but acquire a recipe card box and blank cards. Title each new lead at top of one card and add info as it becomes available. Just some sources for leads, libraries, old writings. Interviews with seniors. The truth is elusive! Don,t but equipment beyond basic needs of durable gloves ,hat and cloths ,if you don,t all ready have. When you do buy, don,t but cheap unless you want to buy again or worse have trouble when it hurts you the most during a rare moment of being where you need to be on a site. Buy your equipment after reviewing this forum for weeks and after deciding what treasure you want to seek. Its your mind more than a lot of gear.
When you decide on an item to buy check our sponsors here, many are a wealth of information, some want you pleased with your gear and can help specific needs.
Learn unwritten rules of gold before you get mixed up with any. Know the laws and ethics of hunting where your looking before hitting the field and keep your lead to yourself.Be nice but there are others after the same thing that would think little of letting you do the work so keep it quiet. All ways repay help on a lead with a kindness at least.
