Getting rid of red clay

How do i get rid of those pesky balls of sloppy red clay in my pan ? I've seen a product for sale called "Clay-B-Gone". Does anybody know if there's a common "under the sink" substitute for this stuff ? What dissolves clay in water ?

Hi Catfish,
Clay be gone is generally used in recirculating set ups such as a blue bowl. When panning all you can do is break up the clay by hand.

I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT "JET DRY" HELPS, BUT I HAVE NEVER TRIED IT.
IT COULD JUST BE A "NOT TOO WELL THOUGHT OUT" IDEA, SO USE CAUTION NOT TO GET
IT INTO EYES AND CUTS, ETC... IF YOU TRY IT.

YOU MIGHT DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND BUY THE CLAY-GONE....
CLAY GONE IS SUPPOSE TO BE VERY SAFE AND EFFICTIVE FOR SETTLING WATER BORN CLAY
IN RECERCULATOR TYPE EQUIPMENT.

I GUESS THAT IS ALL AS CLEAR AS MUD.

This is weird replying to my own topic, but i had an idea. Maybe it will provide a solution to anyone confronted with the same problem who reads these posts. It occured to me the best people to ask about safely dissolving clay, are people who work with it all the time. People who work with sculpting pottery. Possibly arts and craft stores may have some products or suggestions. Thanks for your suggestions, i'll certainly follow up with another post on any info i recieve from this idea.
