Hello im new to this hobby and currently residing in middle georgia and by new i mean i have yet to buy a metal detector but i am planning on it within the next month or so. I had a few questions that im not sure of about buying one or two and the guy at radio shack was about as helpful as my 5 year old. First off my plan is to be able to do it in water waist high to get started and on land but i have no clue what i should get...I dont have the biggest bankroll im looking to spend around 4 or 5 hunred should i get 2 separate ones or would one be good for both land and water? I was looking on kellyco and saw a viper trident i was wondering if this is a good all around MD or should this strictly be a water one? And does it work fully submersed if i happen to get that far. The second one i was looking at was a garret ace 250 it seems like a lot of people use this one is it because of the price or its just a good detector? I apologize ahead of time if i posted this in the wrong area but i was hoping to knock out the introductions and questions all at once. A side note i would really like to buy two total so i can bring a friend or my wife with me sometimes so if you can help out with any advice on buying them please give me a headsup any help is considered a great help at this starting point. FYI I dont care if they are used so if anyone knows any other sites im overlooking dont hesitate.

Thanks from Georgia
Matt

Welcome to Tnet Matt, I can't really help you with the water detector to buy but their are people on here that will be able to help you with that. As for the garret 250 don't let the price fool you i hear that it is a good detector, I use the fisher f2 and I like it alot. Do the research and pick the one that you like and can afford.

Welcome to T/N Your in gold country, I'd go for the Garrett At Pro or the AT Gold. Water proof to ten feet.HH

Call Bart at Big Boy's Hobbies he is one of the sponsors on T/N, he will help you with a great deal.

OK call me ignorant but what do you mean gold country I'm still new to this. And thanks for the welcome.

Well I just did a little research as I'm not originally from ga and now I see what you mean by gold country now I'm more anxious then ever thanks.
