Sure you did ok. Some of the marbles are not in mint, excellent or fine condition, but they are good for collecting and trading. This is especially important if you are going to acquire more, and then if you come across one in better condition, you can always trade or sell. Collectors are always looking for the one they don't have. The one in 1st row to the left is in nice condition, and it appears to be a solid core swirl. I can't tell entirely from the picture, but it looks like the last marble on the right has a lattice type core? The one on the far left, last row seems to be a 2 banded swirl. Red, white and blue is always great, as well. German marbles are always special, at least in my opinion. Nice job!
 

Yeah, you did fine. I don't know how big they are but I'm guessing 5/8 to 3/4" or so? They are old German handmade marbles from the late 1800s. Good find! The value probably isn't a lot more than you paid, but you didn't go wrong either. Some German handmades go for over $1000 apiece!
