German Hand Carved Figures

I was given these by a friend who said she got them about 20 years ago as a gift. They are about 6 1/2" tall, wood, no markings at all. She told me they are supposed to be hand carved German figures. Looks like an old woodcutter and his wife. Anyone know anything about them?

Check around the base and legs of the figurine for a makers mark ( I know you said there were no markings) Use a magnifying glass. Sometimes a makers mark is very small in carved objects or may have been burned into the wood.
