That's as close as I got too... except I had "hurt" instead of "heart"

That's an online translation for ya... LOL

I sent the picture to a German-American buddy and here's his translation:

Beloved Golden
Bavarian Heart
Reduce or prevent
Sorrow and Pain

Interesting thanks, wondering what it refers to WWI

Total conjecture, but I wonder if it is something a wife or sweetheart would give a soldier as a luck/love token.

I will ask my neighbor tomorrow what it means, it has been translated literally already, about what I would have said. The piece is in very nice condition, maybe real gold as it has held up very well. More later and congrats on the find! HH, Mike

I think brass, this was a item I brought in a job lot. I was after the other items but I'm interested in what it is.

This is just a guess, as I really don't have any idea, but could it be a metal that was issued to a "Red Cross" worker?

Just tidying up some blasts from the past (including some very ancient ones), largely for the benefit of anyone searching the site for information.

Interesting find. There’s one listed on this German site but out of stock, so no price given. The vendor says it’s a “Patriotic Badge” and it translates approximately as “Dear golden Munich heart, continue to soothe worry and pain”. Yours says “Bayern heart” rather than “Munich heart”, but Bayern is Grman of “Bavaria”, which has the city of Munich as its administrative seat.

The date isn’t given but that one has the maker name “Deschler u. Sohn, Munich” who were founded in 1831 but became probably the most important maker of orders and decorations during the Third Reich, producing almost all of those needed during the Second World War. The sentiment expressed for these ‘Munich hearts’ is very much consistent with condolences to the folks who lost loved ones serving in the military. This site says it's WWI and a cap badge for the Bavarian Red Cross, but I don't know how reliable that is:
