Hi all, Thanks for the rapid dating on the powder flask. What about this item I've been told it's a Georgian cloak fastener. The question is roughly when in the Georgian period. The item is made of bronze and is 4cm tall. Has anyone found one of these in the States? they must have been worn and lost there at that time. In England we tend to loosly assign finds to certain periods due to our long history. I think the American view may be more focused certainly towards dating 18th century finds.

Regards - Robert

King george 1 probably early to late 1700's? But for some reason the workmanship looks much later.1800's

How does the pin work?

Anyway, I think pre-Georgian mourning brooch or cloak fastener... The back looks crude compared to other Georgian era stuff I can find...

I am far from expert... just a lurker.

I bow to DG's professional opinions :)
