When me and my wife came up with the idea of creating bucket lists for the upcoming year, neither of us actually believed she would find her top bucket find. With her birthday coming up in 3 days I talked her into going for a few hour hunt.

After a very successful day which included an unknown large flat button we headed for home. After some cleaning of our finds we realized her flat button was very unique, having some gold guilt and eagle with shield design.

Initially we believed it to be an early militia or military button, soon we discovered this button is a "George Washington Inaugural 15A Federal Eagle With Morning Glory Above New Nation Tribute" button.

I have never heard of such a find but, I think it's safe to say it's a KEEPER! LOL! Huge congratulations to your beloved. Amazing recovery.:icon_salut:

That's an awesome find, congrats to you and your wife (and congrats for having a wife into detecting too!!!) :icon_thumright:

Sadly us left coasters will never get an opportunity to dig a GW button, but it's on my bucket list too :icon_scratch:

Great find and congratulations, oh and by the way, I vote Banner find.

great find!!!!

That's a very rare button, as I'm sure you know. Big congratulations to your better half!

Super find! I always love the GW buttons. Here's a link showing it with more info to go along: New Nation Tribute ButtonsNNT 15The Federal EagleWith Morning Glory Above ? George Washington Inaugural Buttons He calls them "New Nation" buttons on there. I'm not sure if he means a different category than GW or not, but regardless it's a superb find! Oh just read more and at the bottom he does explain more on his belief these are "New Nation Tribute Buttons." Very good information on your button.

SWEET! Congratulations! :notworthy:

That is a very nice piece of extremely early Americana. If I found something like that I would walk around the next metal detecting club meeting acting all cocky and puffing up my muscles. Don't let your wife do that.

Great find!

Congrats on getting the great looking button. Also Happy Birthday
