George Washington Gold Plated coin - any info?

A teller has this coin - it is very heavy. I thought it might be silver w/ gold plating. Does anyone have any info? Thanks, JJ

there MIGHT be 50 cents worth of gold, other than that it is just one more thing a private mint is/has developed to separate the greedy and non-observant folks from their hard earned cash.
