I know how disappointed you feel. Happened to me multiple times. Once I had 4 homemade dime rolls in one box, opened each of them, but only shiny steel dimes were in there. Was anticipating some silver, but what are the odds. Sometimes you get silver, sometimes you get skunked.
Anyway, keep trying and you'll find silver.

There's nothing worse than seeing a unique or old looking wrapper, getting excited, then opening it to reveal... skunkaroo.

Very early in my CRHing career I found about $100 worth of really worn, old looking wrappers the were nearly solid rolls of '64-'69 Kennedys, WLs and even two Barbers (plus a 1928 British half crown). I knew right away they were good ones just from the wrapper. Well, last week I picked up $80 with very similar looking wrappers. My heart was racing walking to my car. This time, skunks.

Oh well, take the good times with the bad!

HH!

Thats too bad.
Back in June I was on the road and thought to stop at a small town bank while getting gas. They had 2 rolls of 50 cent pieces (rare to find, silver or not) and a roll of nickel dollars (like the canadian version of the Ike dollar) in home made roll as such. I also got a box of dimes which had multiple homemade rolls similar to the rolls of 50 cent pieces and dollars so I had a good feeling. The first homemade roll I tore into had a 1950. With my hopes high the rest of the box produced a 1968 50%er.

You win some you loose some and everything in between.
