I found this little general service cuff button today while out hacking at the frozen ground. It was in the middle of nowhere and no other period relics were found, just crappola and clad. My question is what era is it from. From what I can read on the back mark it says “Boston” but I’m not 100% sure. I couldn’t find any info on military buttons made in Boston, just Waterbury. The are the best pictures I could take with my iPad soooooooooooo..........I forgot to mention it’s smooshed, and I didn’t do it(;
Thank you in advance if you have any insight.

It looks like it, but I think it’s dirt and corrosion

I see what you're seeing too FF1,but blowing the pic up looks more like a regular shield.But I do see that it's a staff officers button.

Actually, the shield looks a little odd to me as well. There seems to be, for lack of a more descriptive word, a tower shape to the right side of the shield and the top looks like it might be straight across instead of having a raised point in the middle. I wish we could get clearer pictures.

Not sure if you know or not FF1,but if you pull the picture up from the original and then click it on more time you can pretty much zoom that puppy in.

Yes I did do that but the picture is a little blurry or my eyes are, maybe a combination of both! After looking at the shield again it does look like a normal side , just something on it that gives the appearance of a tower shape. I still see the US though.
