Gene Evans

I met Gene about 7 years ago and asked him what he was up to... He told me he had a large area in the upper Bahamas bank that he had permits on. At that time he said he had investigated and checked out 43 sites and knew a lot of them were old shipwrecks. He also said that one he was going to follow up on the next dive season that he had already taken off some really interesting artifacts, including a spanish helmet from the 1500"s. I asked him if he would like to make a deal on any of his finds as a contractor or partner and he turned me down. At the time, I think he was 62 years old and just had a triple bypass. I don't know what he was thinking, but he had more sites to investigate than he had time. I doubt if he is still active, however if anything has happened since then, the only
person I know of to contact would be his son who goes by Gino.
I do have a good friend that is also a friend of Gino's. If this is important, I'll give him a call...

Belated wishes for fair winds and following seas on his next journeys. RIP.
I wonder what happened to his research. Seems a shame for that much effort to not be followed up on.
So many folks, for whatever reason, take their research to the grave with them. If I know something by the time I sail out of this existence, I hope I can pass it on before I go so someone else can take up the quest.

Good Post Ropefish,
Perhaps Aquanut will see if he can obtain any of that research from Gene's son.
As some of you know I have been diagnosed with Terminal Cancer. I have information on 2 sites. Both sites have been dived on. I don't have the funding to do either site, as I am trying to put together funding for this coming dive season on an Admiralty Claim, here in the USA.

I'd be willing to give up that Research for a small percentage of what's Recovered for my family, because the Doctor's stated that I only have a few more years before I pass over the bar.

However, I wouldn't pass over that information without knowing that whoever I passed that information over to, had the FUNDING to be able to accomplish the Salvage.

Old Man,

You and all of us know that there are only a very few select individuals who would put Ed's family (Old Man) first and their own interests second.

With that said, I beg of you to be really careful who you hope to follow through on their so called " promises"

But in the mean time come here and let's go diving.....

Sads669,
Point well taken my Friend. That's what contracts are for, I yield to the Captain steering the ship.

Hey Aquanut, et al:
I tried to get an answer from Gino several months back as the Andrews map of the Cape Canaveral area has a fix from Gene Evans, and I'm pretty sure that Bill Andrews was acquainted with Gene. Bill marked up the map and put "Gene Evans" in the notation. Apparently Gene had searched the Cape area for some time. I'm sorry I did not get a chance to talk to him before he passed away. I passed this fix on to Bobby Pritchett and GME. Gino did not answer me.

The impression I got was Gene's brothers were fairly involved in THng. Gino (Gene's son) wasn't all that interested.
