I purchased a garrett pin pointer last month and all of a sudden it's making a weird sound when pin pointing. It sounds like the speaker is rattling loose on the inside. Anyone else having any problems.
Guess I will call garrett soon. Anyone ever sent one back? What's the turnaround time.
Can't imagine metal detecting without it. I really got spoiled
Thanks for your comments and happy hunting.

I think mine did the same exact thing when some sand or dirt entered the speaker area and also when the battery needed changed.I never sent mine out though.Good luck.

When you get it back wrap some black tape around the speaker it will stop the mud and muck from getting in

Yes! It sounds like a vibration... I returned one just to have another do the same thing. I have never dropped nor abused it so I'm not sure what is going on. It did it right out of the box. Unfortunately, before all of this I had another issue where the pointer just died - a button issue. I personally think Garrett Pointers are poorly built. Sent from my iPhone using TreasureNet

I have had my Garrett Pointer for 5 yrs and I had a button problem where it would not turn on. That was the first yr I sent it back and with in the week I had a new one back and I have never had any more problems. Been thinking about buying another one for my daughter to use...

I like my Garrett. No problems so far. Bought it used from an old timer who was getting out of the hobby. I don't know how many years he used it before I got it. The first thing I did was put electrical tape over the speaker. Keeps it clean and reduces the sound (which they are loud.). Getting a Vulcan pinpointer with my new detector, will see how they compare.

I want one of these but I just don't know...I've been looking at all the one's available and can't decide.

Thanks for comments. I never dropped it or abused it. Possible dirt in speaker. Will probably send in and when returned put tape on as suggested. Thanks again

Guess I should put tape on mine now.
