Since getting into MDing (still a frustrated novice :D) I have been picking up old machines where I can find them. One of my latest picks is this Garrett Money Hunter. I am really drawn to it, and keep thinking I should fill it up with batteries (4x 9v) and go swing it a few times. I have a few questions on it though. Will the ground hog coils (it came with 2) be water proof? Also, it has a switch for VLF and TR settings, assuming that it is indeed a waterproof coil will it work better for prospecting (black sand in particular) than my Silver uMax or Fisher CZ-6a? Its just such a darn cool looking unit I want to resurrect it and play with it some. Thinking about PVC shaft and a couple other small modifications to lighten it up as well

Thats her to a T. Only unshown control is the button in the end of the handle. A little more research shows it lives in the PB Groundhog family
