A typical hunt, just like every one else's. Lots of junk, some loot and keepers. I hunted an old beach which hasn't been used for about 30 years. At about that time, there was 3 feet of water where I hunted, according to one of the locals. I have in the past dug up about 6 rings and lots of loot out of this area. The horse flies were hungry today, and took a few bites out of my shoulder.

The only ring I got today was flattened! I managed to reshape it without any real damage, and give it a nice polish. See the pic below.

Have you tested that ring to see if it's gold ? Not all gold jewelery is marked as gold especially older items like rings.

It's not gold. I am 99% sure of that. Gold would have come up looking like gold out of the ground, as it doesn't get any oxides on the surface. The oxide covering the ring had 2 acid baths, 3 polish episodes using two different polish types. Copper and bronze typically look like gold after a high lustre polish. I wish it was gold :coffee2:

Oh duh, sometimes I'm such an idiot. I didn't realize those two rings were the same ring. :help:

The before an after shot are quite extreme. I can see why you thought they were not the same ring.
