I haven't used the Minelab xterra 70 , but I have used the GTP1350 extensively. It has a variety of coils available at a reasonable price to get you extra depth in mineralized soils, or a sniper coil for those tiny objects. The 1350 has the ability to give you a target size, so if you are coin/ring hunting, you can leave a lot of the junk in the ground. The 1350 also loves silver. Garretts are known to be simple to use/programmable machines built tough! And they are backed up made by a USA company who really look after their customers.

Good luck with whatever machine you get!

The Gtp is so easy to operate i love it. Never used Xterra probably works fine. The only thing's ive found with the gtp are don't always trust profiling you can tell with out profiling how big the target is. Dont get me wrong profiling is great to when only one metal is present the ground isn't overloaded with minerals and you have 7 inches on each side of the target to swing the coil. Also on larger objects depth is off on my machine anyway also it is a heavy machine. On the plus side recovery speed is great loves silver and has good depth.
